Frequently Asked Questions

A: They are a set of 11 separate courses provided by Silverscope Music UK on the worldwide music industry. The courses were assembled and designed by a UK Music Industry Lecturer for universities and colleges in the UK and cover a significant and varied amount of subjects and topics on the industry. The courses have been adapted to cater for the Maltese market and the Lecturer has extensive knowledge and understanding of the music industry. Go to the 'About Us' section for further details on the Lecturer and his colleagues.

A: The courses started in Mellieha in December 2008 for the first intake of students for course 1. During 2012 there will be a number of course 1 intakes at different locations in Malta. Courses 2 to 11 will follow.

A: Each of the 11 courses will last for six weeks on one evening per week for two hours.

A: Yes. Certificates will be awarded to each student that partakes in at least four of the six course weeks. A special certificate will be awarded to those students that complete five course modules.

A: Everybody! The courses are designed for musicians, vocalists, singers, song writers, managers, guitarists etc. Simply anyone that is interested in music and the music industry and wishes to learn more on the subject.

A: Each course is limited to between 5 and 10 people (depending on venue size) so due to intake numbers being so low we recommend you book as early as possible either via email (via the Contact Us section) or by telephone. You are ensured of your place on the course once the course fee is paid in full in advance and you receive confirmation from us. You may pay for the courses by either cheque, cash or shortly via Paypal. We do require a minimum of 4 booked places per intake to ensure the course runs viably so in the event that the required places are not booked we shall put you onto the next available course intake.

A: The courses will take place at different locations in Malta to allow ease of use for each student. From 2008 to 2012 we have used 5 different locations, the north of the island in Mellieha, the Bugibba/Qawra/St.Paul's Bay area, Mosta, Marsascala/Zonqor area and the Sliema/Valletta/Floriana area. We welcome other suggestions so please contact if you think a course would be suitable in a different location such as Gozo for example.

A: We have deliberately ensured the student intakes are so small for maximum learning benefit of the students taking part. The Lecturer has noted that teaching in classes of 20 or 30 people in a course as exciting as the music industry, that some students can become agitated and upset that they are not getting the required personal tuition and interaction with the Lecturer. These Malta courses have been specifically assembled to ensure that each of the students can benefit in learning about the music industry in relation to their own personal involvement within music.

A: Just yourself! We provide notepads and pens and all relevant learning literature including any notes relevant to the weeks music subject. In fact the literature provided by Silverscope over the 11 courses adds up to a library of important information.

A: Unfortunately, as each course module is under copyright we do not allow the lessons to be recorded. However, course notes are provided on each subject.

A: Yes. In fact if you book all eleven course modules in advance you will receive a significant saving than if you booked each course individually. See the 'Venues + Fees' section for more information on this. You will also receive a significant discount if you book the first five courses together. Contact us for more information.

A: Yes. We will often offer other discounts either on the website or through our advertising. We also offer incentives for students such as our 'Refer A Friend' scheme. See our 'Special Offers' section for up to date offers and the 'Refer A Friend' section for more information.

A: Although obviously we cannot guarantee that you will get a job in the music industry from these courses, we can guarantee you the following. You will be in a far stronger position in which to be able to understand the music industry as a whole and the relevant areas of employment that would be beneficial and of interest to you in the music world. Knowledge of the workings of the industry will be of enormous advantage to you when attempting to find work in the industry.
